Introduction:
Tata launched the Tata Nexon EV in January 2020. The company has sold 2,892 electric vehicle units including Nexon EV and Tigor EV in January 2022.
Description:
Tata has been developing a longer-range version of the Nexon EV for a long time now. The company can launch this long-range version by April 2022. The company will also offer a bigger battery and some other mechanical upgrades in this new version.
According to reports, the company can offer a bigger 40 kWh battery in this new version which will be 30% bigger than the current battery of Tata Nexon. This large battery pack can give the Tata Nexon a range of up to 400 km. Currently, the Tata Nexon offers a range of 312 km with a 30.2 kWh battery pack.
Apart from the bigger battery pack, Tata can also offer a more powerful charger in this electric vehicle, which will greatly reduce the charging time. Currently, the Tata Nexon comes with a 3.3 kW AC charger, which takes up to 10 hours to charge the battery to 100%. In this new version, the company can provide an AC charger of 6.6 kW.
Apart from increasing the battery, Tata may also offer disc brakes on all the wheels in this electric vehicle. Having a bigger battery will make the vehicle heavier and more power will be required to stop it. For this, a disc brake will be required.
Along with disc brakes, a bigger battery pack, the new version of the Tata Nexon is likely to come with other cool features like an electronic stability program, redesigned alloy wheels, and new modes.
Tata may sell the new version of the Tata Nexon EV for Rs 3-4 lakh more than the current version. With this, the price of this new version can be Rs 17-18 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite this price tag, the new version of the Tata Nexon EV will be cheaper than electric vehicles like the Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG ZS EV.
Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV will also be launched in the market soon with their new versions but the new version of Tata Nexon EV will still be cheaper than them.
